The 2018 Estonian Geoinformatics Society Scholarship

Description of Scholarship:

The objectiv of the scholarship is to support the students of geoinformatics, cartography and other closely related specialities or the specialists working in similar fields in their professional development abroad and to help students and specialists in these fields in the development of their careers and acquiring diverse experience.

Value/Amount:

The amount of the scholarship fund is €1,000. The scholarship can be used for covering travelling expenses, the cost of study materials, laboratory costs, participation fees, etc. The sum of the scholarship and the number of scholarships is decided by the scholarship committee.

Full Eligibility Requirements:

The scholarship can be applied for by students of geoinformatics, cartography and other closely related specialities or by specialists working in a similar field with at least one year of work experience. The scholarship supports studies in foreign universities’ study programmes, participation in student exchange, or professional development through refresher training, conferences or other similar activities.

Conditions for applying:

a. When studying in a foreign university within a study programme, student exchange or refresher training, the applicant must submit a written confirmation from the respective educational or research institution;

b. When studying within a study programme, student exchange or refresher training, at least half of the intended study load must contain subjects related to geoinformatics or cartography;

c. The recipient of the scholarship cannot be a member of the management board of the Estonian Geoinformatics Society;

d. The recipient agrees to give an oral or poster presentation at the annual conference of the Estonian Geoinformatics Society on the professional knowledge/skills/experience acquired with the help of the scholarship and to give an oral presentation at the summer school of the Estonian Geoinformatics Society. 

How to Apply: 

Applicant must submit an electronic application on the website of the foundation, which contains data on the applicant and a motivation letter (up to 250 words). The application must be accompanied by a written confirmation from a foreign university or an educational institution. Submitting a recommendation letter from a teacher is not compulsory.

Scholarship will be awarded:

The recipients of the Scholarship are publicly announced at the beginning of June.
